Winter Box League

East Side sponsors the indoor box lacrosse league hosted by Lovell Lacrosse at Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Shelby Township. The Lovell’s bring NLL Box Championship and Canadian Junior Lacrosse experience as well as their love of the box game to our Macomb County players. The box league features a 45-min instruction/warm-up and a 45-min game.  League play runs from December through February and is a great compliment to traditional training.

What is box lacrosse? It is most simply described as lacrosse played inside an ice or roller hockey rink.

Why play box lacrosse?  Box Lacrosse provides a number of important benefits that help field players perform better.

  • Improve stamina and speed. Play rarely stops with the boards keeping play alive. Everyone gets active, intense game every time.
  • Close confines helps improve stickwork and passing. Dodging through a crowd doesn’t work well on a field let alone a small rink!
  • Smaller Goals. You have to have good shot selection and accuracy to score.
